Undated Broadcasts Project — Cecil and Sally Early 1931 Arc
Continuing our chronological resolution across the 1928–1933 syndicated daily comedy serial Cecil and Sally (starring Johnny Patrick and Helen Troy), This update resolves an additional 50 sequential broadcasts (Sequences 688 through 737, representing Episodes 331 through 380).
Spanning January 26 through March 24, 1931, this cohort highlights multiple interconnected multi-episode story arcs that showcase the fast-paced farcical writing of creator Johnny Patrick:
- The Golden Flood Oil Stock Swindle: Cecil finds a lost wallet with twenty-five dollars, succumbs to get-rich-quick temptation by buying bogus oil shares, panics upon discovering the company does not exist, tracks down the swindler in an alley, gets his cash back, mistakenly shreds the money thinking it is counterfeit, tapes it back together, and mails it directly to President Herbert Hoover at the White House for replacement currency.
- The Contest Story Window Heist: Cecil and Sally collaborate on a $500 magazine writing contest entry. When the midnight deadline looms, Cecil has to scale the trellis and climb through Sally's bedroom window in the dark, where they terrify each other believing a burglar is lurking in the pantry.
- The Hardened French Mud Mask: Sally tests out an exotic Parisian beauty mud pack, only for the compound to cure like solid plaster. Uncle Thomas has to be called in with butter knives to chisel away the shell.
- The Policeman Masquerade: To intimidate Miss Mason (who has set her matrimonial sights on Uncle Thomas), Cecil dresses up in a patrolman's uniform with a water pistol, only to stumble into an actual armed robbery where the bandit strips Cecil of his uniform.
Reaching 1,739 broadcasts resolved in the master project ledger, each entry features verified daily airdates, standardized comedy taxonomy, and pure narrative synopses.
